Why does the code I try to redeem still charge me a dollar when i redeem it?

I purchased a TV brand new from the Walmart in my area. It offered me four codes to redeem, and the one I chose was the Apple music free for four months. When I attempted to redeem it, it attempted to charge me $1.00, when I wasn't supposed to be charged at all. Any idea why?
