MacBook is an older version from about 2015. Im having trouble with the storage space on MacBook. I need to know what memory disk to purchase in order to download up to date software. I currently have a SanDisk which is asking for trouble shooting I do not understand. I do not have flash drive at the moment.

Since you referred to downloading "up-to-date" software, note that adding more storage to your MacBook Air will not change which versions of macOS the machine can run.
You can upgrade a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) to Monterey. You cannot upgrade it to Ventura or later.
