iMovie - What are the supported sound file types?

Trying to import Mp3 file and getting an error message. I want to add CC music to videos bound for Youtube so cannot use music from Apple files due to copyright issues.

m4v files play no audio in iMovie I have converted 4 GB of VOB files to m4v using VLC's Convert & Stream function. When loaded into iMovie 10.1.14 no audio will play. I am attaching a screenshot with file info. What can I do to make these files editable in iMovie?

Bug FCPX 10.8? no more audio on .mts files! Bug in FCPX 10.8? When I try playing some .mts files imported by FCPX 10.7 upgraded to FCPX 10.8, the video of this files is ok but the audio doesn't work. But when I import a new .mts file from a SD card in FCPX 10.8, the importation is correct for audio and video.

Audio formats supported by iMovie:

Exportable formats are AAC, aiff, Mp3, wav.
