Recommended Speakers for MacMini M2 Pro

Hi together,

I did buy a few Weeks ago 2 HomePod Mini, as I wanted to set them up in Stereo Mode for my Mac Mini.

But I'm not happy with them, I've as many others the issue that the Sound is delayed and is not really stable, loosing sometimes the Connection. I did already talk to the Apple Support, and more than once, but there is no solution.

My Workaround at the moment is to use the AirPlay Functionality integrated on the Browser if it exists, otherwise I can not use the HomePod Mini.

Now I'm ready to think about to buy new Speakers which should work without any Issues with my System, and will use then the HomePod Mini somewhere else.

But back to the Question, is there any recommendation from any User about the best Speakers? Which I can use with my Mac Mini without any Issues?

thanks in advance

This is a difficult one, as it depends what you intend to do with system speakers, music, videoconferencing, etc.

i use altec-lansing with a a subwoofer, but as i produce music, i also have a high-end AD/DA interface connected to professional audio speakers, that’s a totally different purpose.

if you started with HomePod, my first question to you is: why would you use homePod with a mac mini as these are intended to be a self-sufficient system.

I am satisfied with my HomePod (original) for ambiant music in the home.

I use my System for Coding, Video Conferencing, listening to Music, watching TV-Shows and Movies, watching streams, etc. so nothing special in my opinion, very very very rare maybe once a year I game a little, but that's really rare.

I don't produce music, so I think that's really a totally different purpose. But I'm used to the Quality of Sound which I have with my MacBook Pro as well as with the AirPods Max. I don't want to loose that Quality. If it's possible to have even a better quality, then, I prefer it, but not the opposite.

I wanted to give the HomePod a try, because they are not too big, and Until now I was always very happy with the quality provided by Apple Devices ( apart from the Speakers in the MacMini :) )

I did read as well that is possible to set the HomePod Mini as stereo and use it, and as they are really cheap I wanted to give a try.

Once I've got new Speakers with which I would be happy, then I plan to put the HomePod Mini in the Kitchen maybe and somewhere else in the Apartment to just listen music from my iPhone.

Another question will be what level of budget you're ready to put in of course.

The Altec Lansing type with subwoofer would likely be very affordable and ... decent. That would not be my main system, but matter of taste when comes times to listen to music or watch Netflix on the computer. (Music while I work is one thing, although I'll prefer to use my Beats Studio Pro).

That being said, Rudegear mentioned Creative soundblaster (a long-time multi-decades player in computer sound) soundbars and some Logitech setups which can also be very decent. Although I've never been a fan of soundbars especially for a computing desk setup (I tend to believe their place is with a main TV home theatre setup, but that's me.

Any of these will allow you budgeting between $100 and $300 roughly.
