Phone number Unavailable for iMessage and FaceTime

Everything had been working properly for months. In order to help my wife fix a problem on her iPhone, I removed and reinserted the SIM card in my iPhone. Since then, I can no longer use my phone number to send and receive messages (on iMessage). I can only send with my primary email address.

I have meticulously followed the instructions provided here (If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your iPhone - Apple Support) and here (Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support (CA)) without success.

I've spent hours Signing in and out, reinitializing settings and rebooting my phone with no success. Are there other solutions?

In the process of resolving this issue, I am going back and forth between my Service Provider and Apple Support. I am told this issue is affecting thousands of users worldwide following the recent 18.3.1 IOS update affecting how Apple servers handle (among other things) iMessage and FaceTime communication.

There doesn't seem to be a fix at this point in time. Need to wait for Apple to release an update.
