It might help to clear up some terms.

  • Apple Pay is not an account that can be opened, it is simply a process to securely negotiate a transactions without exposing card details. The payment method used is one of the cards you have added to your Wallet.
  • Your Apple Account is only for Apple Purchases.
  • Apple Cash is a payment method that can be found in the Wallet app, but with iOS 16, the card numbers are not exposed. It can be used to send money using Messages or at a retail location that accepts Apple Pay by tapping the terminal with the card selected in your Wallet.
  • Apple Card is a credit card, where there are card numbers available to you.
  • When using Apple Pay for a transaction, you would not be manually entering any card numbers and the website would have to support Apple Pay.
  • Google pay is similar to Apple Pay, but the 2 are not interchangeable.
