I’m newer to FCP and have the storage / ballooning library issue. 20 minute video has exploded to 800+ gbs, effectively crippling all progress with the storage message.
Now I’ve already deleted render files etc. I pull most my footage off of iCloud from iPhone so I have to download it first.
I just have no understanding of how this library is this big, what to do to do to shrink it and how to completely avoid this in the future. HELP!
Go to Final Cut Pro->Settings->Import and uncheck all transcoding options.
Select the library in the FCP browser toolbar and do
File->Delete Generated Library Files. Check all the options. Confirm.
Then quit Final Cut Pro and marvel at the hundreds of GB recovered.
