Vocal recording not playing unless I click a different audio track

I am recently having a problem where when I record vocals on a track, it records, but when I try to play it back (while the vocal track is selected) I hear nothing. I have to click a separate track just to hear the locals. This has been happening for a month now.

Input monitoring while playing the recorded track I have enabled input monitoring on the channel I'm using for vocals. The singer wants to hear some reverb (and is OK with the latency). On headphones we can hear the reverb when the track is stopped and when we are actually recording onto the track but cannot hear any reverb if I press 'play' without recording (i.e. when practising). I've tried using the reverb as an audio effect on the channel, as a send (using a bus) and I've tried sending the whole signal via a bus. None of these seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

Sound low on track I transfered my 50 vocal garageband compositions (5 part harmony) from my 2008 Apple IPad to the 2022 MacBook Air M2 GarageBand version. My interface is the PreSonus Studio 24c. Everything is fine but I want to now add a track (the lead voice) and the volume is substantially lower. Even when I decrease the volumes of the other tracks, I can't get my volume high enough. Help!

Turn off auto input monitoring.
