How to display community postings by thread
Is there a way to configure my system to show the different threads in the community's discussions? Right now it seems that all I can do is sort by rank or date of posting.

It doesn't have a threaded view anymore. All you can do is change the sort order. But most people don't even know how to do that. So if a thread ever goes multi-page, your replies would likely be on page 2 anyway and no one will see them. So what's the point in organizing by threads?
Thanks for the reply. I THOUGHT that there used to be threads here, but I've not been in the Community for quite a while now.
I like threads sometimes because they give me a history of why a post is there. Frequently I see a post that is interesting so I want to see the discussion that led up to it. Is there any way that I can do this now with the current community structure?

It was redesigned a while ago.

Not really. You can set your default sort order to either newest or oldest. I use newest because then I can easily see the newest post at the top of the replies.
The problem is when a thread goes into multiple pages. Using newest, I can still see the newest post at the top. Using oldest, I would have to go to the last page. But when using rank or upvotes, I have no idea where the newest post is. Furthermore, if I add a new reply, I have no idea where it's going. In most cases, I just avoid multi-page threads now.
But in all honesty, if you have to go looking for the start of a conversation, it's probably long dead.
Ok, I see what I was doing wrong. The bottom level of each item is the full thread. Its the level above that that sorts funny as a list of threads.. Thanks again!
