Password has changed, but the window hags with spinning wheel

I've just changed my password which Apple have acknowledged, but now I'm left with the dreaded spinning

wheel, and the 3 coloured dots will only allow me to minimise to the dock.

Computer Password and Apple ID Password ( formerly Apple ID ) should not be one and the same

Apple has tighten up security and has forced me, some years ago, the either Change my Apple Account Password or change the Computer password

This all occurred around the time of a New Purchase of an iPhone 15 Pro

Had not transfers Account from Old iPhone to New iPhone which set these wheels in motion

Like it or not

Apple is serious abuot Security even if it now requires two separate and different Passwords

One for Apple Account and different password for Apple Computers

We can not " Fight City Hall " on this one

I wasn't aware that I needed a separate user password rather than just use my Apple password which I THOUGHT were one and the same. Evidently, not the case, but Apple never make that abundantly clear in the Systems preferences pane. Apple seems to love being a pain in the ***.

It was bad enough my 12 year old iMac not letting me print via my router, instead of plugging the cable directly from the printer into the iMac. But I've discovered a short term 'get around' for that. I can print from my MacBook Air, via the USB socket on the Macbook. All is good until Apple stop supporting Monterey.

I had changed my user account password on my iMac, but I don't understand why I should need separate passwords, that caused the spinning circle to hang. which caused me to initiate the response. I think it had a lot to do with Apple's policy of withdrawing coverage of assistance with IOS and devices more than 3 years old.

It also wouldn't or didn't recognise the newly created password when I clicked the padlock

in order to amend the paper size in the Printers & Scanners window. It seems that I will be forced to purchase a

replacement of my current iMac with a later model. Thanks a bundle, Apple!! 😉

P.S. The word 'hags' should have been HANGS, i.e. wouldn't disappear, and that I also couldn't minimise the window to the dock.

I was trying to open the lock under the 'Printers and Scanners' pane to change the default paper size from A5 back to A4. I didn't realise that the user password was different from my ID password. Apple don't seem to make that clear in the 'Systems Preferences' pane. I suspect that my changing my password had something to do with my confusion over the ID/User difference in passwords.

It appears that Apple has a major hang-up in doubling up on privacy and security.
