speak selection doesn't work on mac book pro

using my macbook pro any text I select (highlight) will not speak. I have accessibility settings on spoken content set to on and speak selection on. I have update my OS to Sequoia 15.3.1. I took it to the genius bar with no luck

Speech in Pages not working after upgrade to Sequoia 15.3 I've just noticed that the Speech function in Pages (v. 14.3) is not working. I regularly use this feature to help me proof-read my work. The text is highlighted when using the menu command (Edit menu -> Speech -> Start Speaking), but I'm not hearing anything. Sound settings show output to MacBook Pro Speakers - Built-in, with no issues with Apple Music or other apps. I just patched my system to Sequoia 15.3 when I noticed this issue. Are the two related? Any ideals on how to fix this problem in Pages? Thanks, David

"Speak selection" stops speaking midway through (Macbook Air M1) I have a Macbook Air M1 2020. Software is updated to Ventura 13.4 I frequently use the "speak selection" (cmd + esc) feature to have the computer read aloud sections of text. But recently it has started failing intermittently on longer texts, like more than a few paragraphs in length. I will highlight an article (usually in Chrome) and press cmd+esc. The voice will start reading and the little controls will appear. However then after a seemingly random amount of time, the voice will stop before the selection is finished reading. Usually this control window will still be visible even though no voice is playing. This is very frustrating because I rely on the feature often to help me digest long sections of text. How to fix this?

Speak Selection and Spoken Content ignore punctuation 2020 MacBook Air, M1. Ventura 13.4 Greetings all from Down Under, Speak Selection and Spoken Content appear to ignore punctuation when rendering text-to-speech. Basically, prose is spoken as an unstructured, stream of words interspersed with random halts and pauses. Origin of text, or file type appears irrelevant. I've tried several combinations of different voices and speaking rate. All fall far short of a solution. I experience a disability and need to use text-to-speech on Apple and non-Apple devices to do my work. VoiceOver is not a solution for me. It's good for what it does, but it's unsuitable for my needs. Perhaps the wisdom of the crowd can solve this riddle? the-riddler

Seems best to send feedback to Apple ... although it won't help immediately, and they will likely not reply, your feedback is valuable. Your feedback will be carefully read and logged. If others have a similar issue, Apple can see which Macs and MacOS versions are affected. We may see the issue addressed in an update.

same 15.3.1 does not work, the spoken content tool bar play button just flashes on/off and will not play speech
