Songs won't play in Apple Music when clicked in Windows Explorer

I have been using itunes on Windows for what seems like forever. I was glad to see there is now an Apple Music App for Windows that actually has a dark mode. It installed just fine and imported all of my playlists of downloaded and local music from my computer.

Once I turned Sync on, it downloaded my more recent additions and I was all set. All of the songs play just fine from WITHIN the App. The problem lies with clicking any one of the hundreds of .mp3 files on my computer

I associated the files with the new app, and told windows to ALWAYS use the apple app to play .mp3

The icons for the music files changed from the old itunes icon to the Apple Music icon.

Double clicking the MP3 file DOES open the App, but it only spins for a few seconds and then opens the Home screen of the App without playing a sound or even displaying the song. I have rebooted the computer (WINDOWS 11) , Checked the Windows Firewall for any blocks, Gave the file AppleMusic.exe Administrative rights. I can't even drag an mp3 file over to the App Screen. It won't accept it. Any Ideas anyone?
