Unable to access Apple Music on HomePods after consolidating accounts

Hi,

Here is the summary:

  1. All Apple services, including Apple Music subscription, are working on all my Apple devices (iPhones, iPad, Mac, and Apple Home) except HomePods.
  2. On HomePods, all Apple services are working (including controlling smart devices on Apple Home, creating calendar events, making phone calls, etc.) except accessing Apple Music subscription.
  3. On HomePods, I get the following Siri response when I request to play playlists from my library or even when I ask "Play songs by John Lennon”:
    1. Siri response: ”I could not find any music in your Apple Music library.”
  4. On HomePods, the only music I can play by a direct request are radio stations. For example, Siri plays music when I request “Play Jazz Music” or “Play Music”.
    1. Previously, when the HomePods were able to access my Apple Music Library, Siri would play my favorite music when I asked “Play Music”.
  5. I have reset all three HomePods to factory settings and then I signed into my consolidated Apple ID account as the "Primary User" for all three HomePods.
  6. I can stream music to HomePods from any of my other Apple devices.

The mere thought of how often I have repeated the above information to Apple support (including senior advisors) for HomePods and Apple Music over the last few days in futile results in me taking lots of deep breaths.

I will appreciate any suggestions you may have to fix this problem.

Thank you.

For whatever it is worth, I figured out the problem in case someone else is having the same problem.

Even though my iPhone was able to access my Apple Music library, the music app on the iPhone was still logged in under my old Apple account! Because of this, the Home App “Apple Music” was also still pointing to my old Apple account. I believe that HomePods use the Apple Home App for verification and setup of the Apple Music Subscription among other Apple services.

The following two steps took care of my problem:

  1. On my iPhone Music App, I logged out of my old account and logged back in using my new consolidated account.
  2. Turned off my iPhone and restarted it.
    1. This step was required as the Home App “Apple Music” was still pointing to my old Apple account even after I signed into the new Apple account on the iPhone Music App. After restarting the iPhone, the Home App “Apple Music” pointed to the new consolidated account. Now, the HomePods are able to access my Apple Music library.

To further clarify "1." above, while I had changed Apple Music subscription to my new consolidated account in settings for the Apple account, I did not realize that I needed to make the same change in the settings for the Music App as well. So, this step is referring to going to the music app in the settings and making the account change there as well.
