This would probably be an Apple Silicon Computer - right
Refer to Link Below from Apple on this very topic
If your Mac asks you to allow an accessory to connect - Apple Support
Excerpt from link above
When you use a new or unknown USB accessory, Thunderbolt accessory, or SD card with your Mac laptop with Apple silicon and macOS Ventura or later.
When you plug in the " external cd player " to the computer
Do you Get this ?
If so what did you choose ?
Does this external ODD have two connectors - one a USB 3.0 connector and another a USB 2.0 connector?
If so, are you plugging both plugs into the Macbook pro?
If not, try that. These external drives often need more power than only one port can offer.
Are you having to use an adapter for the USB 3.0 connector? If so, what brand and type of adapter or dock?
There are two plug-ins on the Roofull. Only the smaller plug-in will fit.
It could be that the software is too old for installation.
And one of my attempts, I saw a message saying that the laptop could not read this CD
Does Roofull indicate this CD drive will work on an Apple Mac?
What kind of CD are you trying to read? Music CD or a data CD?
You are likely going to need some sort of software driver possibly for the CD drive.
Ask Roofull for the software driver or try and download it from their webpage.
PRP_53 is right. There is a permission setting you will need for that drive to gain access to the computer as well.
Usually plugging the USB peripheral triggers it and you must say YES and NOT no.
I can't rule out a power issue because you are only using one plug. There are USBA to USBC adapters you can buy. Get the Apple branded one if you can so it supports both data and power. It also has a smaller USBC plug that works better with cases one may use around the MacBook.
Good Luck.
I forgot to ask about the software - when you open itunes can you see the disk?
Thank you 👍
