epson perfection v500 scanner/ mac os catalina

I am using os Mohave on my iMac but need to upgrade to Catalina as Safari not supported always.

Will my excellent Epsom V500 scanner still be supported by this upgrade ?

The Epson V500 works perfectly fine on a Mac running Catalina. Just install the correct Catalina driver(s) from the Epson V500 support website. You should install both the Epson V500 driver and the ICA driver.

Once installed you can use Epson Scan, Image Capture or, if you prefer, Vuescan, which I highly recommend.

Thanks for your input.

So you're saying that safari on catalina is unchanged from Mohave?

That is not what I said. Apple is no longer providing newer versions of Safari on Mojave or Catalina, as support for those older operating systems has ceased.

{ It's only occasionally that I can't access websites on my present Safari). But the V500 would not be supported on Catalina? And that Firefox etc would act as a substitute for Safari?

Looking at the Epson website, and putting in Catalina as OS instead of Mogavi, the driver below came up for my V500,

I am looking at the Epson Perfection V500 Photo driver page (in the U.S.) for macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and that version is 5.8.23 dated 11/23/2023.

Drivers
ICA Scanner Driver for Image Capture (v5.8.23)
v.5.8.23
22-May-2024
31.45 MB
.dmg

Would this work on my imac do you think, if I upgraded to Catalina?

Epson shows it as an available driver for Catalina. It may or may not work. I don't own this scanner and no longer use Catalina, so I have no idea if it will work or not.

Thanks again.

Apple is not updating Safari on Catalina either. Not for several years, so consider a current browser such as Firefox or Brave whose minimum operating system support is now Catalina.

The last ICA (Image Capture compatible) scanner driver for macOS Catalina was released by Epson in Fall 2023.

If you were considering VueScan Professional to drive this scanner, it requires a working Epson scanner driver per the link.
