HomePod mini started playing a unknown tone

I have a homepod mini. This afternoon, it started playing a tone. i didn't know what it was ( it was in another room), so it went on for a while. It then began repeating “extend appalachian anthology timer?” I finally realized what it was and stopped it. This was nothing I set. I don’t even know what it was referring to. Any idea what’s going on?
