In column view in finder, right-clicking gives the option to "right size" columns either individually or equally. How do you set this as a default so that columns are always rights-sized in new finder windows?

The ability to configure that setting as a default does not exist. This is a feature request so you should put that in product feedback to Apple. This community forum is not the place to make feature requests.
