Why is it so hard to manually enter a workout and or minutes into my health app?

Why is it so hard to manually enter a workout and or minutes into my health app? It should be straight forward. No, I don't want to use my watch. I don't wear it all the time, only at work. I don't like to be that attached to technology during my down time. Every time I need to add minutes or miles walked or elliptical I have to look up how to do it. Why can't the summary page have a simple "Add Data" button, and you choose from a list. Yes, I am sure it is all in there now, but it is frustrating. Today I want to add minutes and elliptical miles so I turn to google again and attempted to follow the instructions....

It told me to:

  • Open the Health app
  • Tap "Browse" then "Activity"
  • Select "Workouts"

...workouts is not an option. All I see is a huge day to day summary that was recorded from my watch. Nothing with Minutes or Elliptical. Therefore I can not continue to the remaining steps...

Yes, I am aware that if I keep scrolling down past "12 Months" there is a list of "no data available" options, since I have stumbled on minutes and elliptical in the past there is data but I cannot locate it. It will not show up in the "no data available" section.

Can't it be simple...Have a Manual Add section. List ALL of the things you can manually add. Click on the item you want to add, add the info, date, time and move on with your life.

Not everyone uses the watch or wants things to automatically record data. Please just make it way more streamlined. I am trying my best to be healthier, and not reinvent the wheel by using questionable 3rd party apps, because apple health has everything I need and links to my healthcare provider's app. It is VERY discouraging that i cant just open it and click click type save done move on with my life. Instead I have to navigate and browse and search and spend over way too long searching and googling to enter my info.

My tech background, I am 45 y/o, I was a Geek Squad Agent and Manager for many, many years, working with technology and assisting people with theirs (often dumbing things down for older folks so they can understand and be able to do things on their own once they left me). I am thankful I never had anyone ask about apple health over my 15+ years working with technology. I built my own gaming PC. With that criteria, I should not have any issues navigating a health app. Seriously.
