Airplay 2 macOS SYSTEM AUDIO to multiple audio devices ???

I have a bunch of old airport expresses sprinkled around the house, extending my WiFi and, more to the point of this question, feeding audio to speakers, stereo systems, etc. It's great, and I went on eBay to grab more of the late-model versions which support Airplay 2 -- because you can stream to multiple devices at once with Airplay 2. On from iOS, that is! Can you do this from macOS? If not, why not? I used to use something from Rogue Amoeba prior to Airplay 2 to achieve multi-device 'broadcast.' Must I search for such again? Streaming from a phone really drains the battery : (
