How do I avoid slangs in dictation on iOS and macOS?

"Want to" and "going to" end up as "wanna" and "gunna" or whatever, and I sometimes forget to manually correct this and then feel like a moron when sending a text, etc.

Apparently no settings to prevent this and using a text shortcut doesn't seem to work either per this question:

Dictation and text replacement - Apple Community

Any other hacks to prevent dictation from doing this?

It depends on the keyboard dictionary that you have added.

The autocorrect behavior depends on the keyboard dictionary. The U.S. English keyboard is particularly aggressive with contractions like "wanna" and "gonna." If you're using Indian English, UK English, or another variation, it may not do that.

If you ever switch to a different keyboard and it starts happening again, you can still use the Text Replacement trick to override it. Or, if autocorrect is being a pain in general, you can reset the keyboard dictionary under Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Keyboard Dictionary to start fresh.
