IPad turning off even when not dead.

So, my iPad Air 4th Generation has been acting up recently. For example, either the battery will drain quickly or, it’ll shut off, as if it “died” or restarted, at 30 ish 40 percent, and I’ll turn it on it’ll say 37 and then turn off, and I’ll turn it on again and it’ll say 11 and shut off quickly and then it does the same thing, but then I plugged it in to see what would happen if I turned it on with the charger plugged in, and it turned on and showed 1 percent, and charges fine, but I need help figuring out what is wrong with it.

As described, your iPad battery may have a fault, or may be reaching the end of its usable life. In such circumstances the battery charge indication is likely be to erratic or inconsistent. If the battery has failed or is failing, the iPad may unexpectedly turn-off - or may not successfully boot to a running state even when connected to its Power Adapter.

Are you able to use the iPad while remaining connected to your Power Adapter? If yes, while monitoring the indicated battery state, disconnect the Power Adapter; if the indicated battery state suddenly falls, or the iPad shuts-off, this test demonstrates the iPad battery having reached the end of its usable life:

iPad Repair & Service - Apple Support

Consider contacting Apple Support - and request a remote battery diagnostic test. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to hands-on test and assess your iPad. Here you will be in the best possible place to explore your available options:

Battery exhausted? Other internal component failure? but we, just users like you, can't diagnose that kind of issue remotely, sorry.

I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly (they have tools to check your battery status remotely and run diagnostic tests), using this link:--> Contact Apple for support and service , or make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Giulio
