'You must have a SIM associated with an Apple device' error for iMessage and FaceTime on iPhone

I had exactly the same problem, I reset network settings, then my new (ported) number was in “my number” automatically. Go to iMessages- send and receive- ensure both email and number are ticked and then reboot. Hope this works!

What the Answer Reads:

"It listed 'my number' and had the temp one there. But it let me edit it to my ported number. I did that and went back to messages, FaceTime, etc and presto, my ported number was showing as being available for iMessage and FaceTime."
