GarageBand not opening on new MacBook Air after migration even update didn’t fix it.

Hello can you help please , A couple of months ago I bought this Mac air , I migrated my music including garageband projects from my old MacBook pro to my new MacBook air . At the time of the migration I quickly checked the garageband migration had worked ok and it did . Ive not used garageband for a while and decided tonight to spend some time on the old projects , but garageband wouldn't open all I got was the multicoloured ball going round in a circle , I checked for updates and found one , but the update hasn't solved the problem . Ive been on it hours but no joy . I get the feeling its to with the migration , but maybe not ? any ideas please .

Apple has some additional steps here to try:

If GarageBand isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support

If nothing there works, post back with more details including your specific Mac model and specs and what version of macOS it's running and someone may be able to offer some additional ideas.

Because my garageband won't open , only one of those options applies to me and that's ' launch and press control ' then " Launch without audio units " this did allow me to open a new project . I then tried to open the projects I migrated and it says " The file doesn't exist " on all migrated projects . so at least some joy but the original big problem still ongoing . thanks .

I'm guessing, but it sounds to me like the migration didn't copy over the projects correctly. If you still have access to that old Mac, I'd suggest copying them over again either using Target Disk Mode or an external storage device. Then see if you can open them successfully.

Hello this issue now resolved , it took hours with help from apple , had to reinstall Sonoma ( which is disappointingly out of date already ) and then they phoned me and searched until they found incompatible plugins that Ive never used anyway . thanks for the help . Bye .

Have you tried deleting GarageBand completely and re-downloading it from the App Store?

No with it being new and hardly used I thought it would be ok . I guess that's an option . I get the feeling that's time consuming , but worth a try . thanks .
