What are the steps to alphabetize apps

You would have to manually arrange them on the home screens if that is what you are talking about. Apps are alphabetized in the App Library if you are looking for something like that. But there is no command to sort apps alphabetically on the Home Screens.s
As ChrisJ4203 says, you can manually arrange them alphabetically (or however you want).
You can also go to Settings>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. Unless something has changed, this will put all of the built in apps back where they were when you first activated the phone and alphabetize all of your third-party apps. It will also remove any folders you've created. There is no "undo" so that if you do this reset, you have to manually put everything back where it was if you don't like the results.
App Library is your easiest option.
