There have been many reports on the TurboTax website with a current workaround of saving to a PDF, and then printing the PDF. Many of those people claim they had the same problem last year that was fixed with one of the TurboTax updates. For me, it has not been an issue using the Home & Business package, so not sure what the specific bug is.

Mac Jim ID likely has your fix above.

If this is instead a generic problem, in broad generalities, Printing causes any app to make a large request for more RAM memory, to be used to build the print image. it also may need more RAM memory to load and run drawing routines.

If your available RAM memory is low at the moment you make the request, it can cause the beachball while stuff in RAM memory is moved to the system Swap file on the Boot drive to make room. If your Boot drive is more than about 80 percent full, that can be quite slow.

So a quick test might be to Restart your Mac, and then do NOT load your Browser or Mail or other items, and see if the issue persists.
