Files app One Drive Shared Folder can’t access sharing option menu

This is a One Drive folder. I've been having this problem for at least 6 months now. I’m on IOS v18.3. I set up shared folders about 4 years ago. I was able to share One Drive folders through the "Files" app without a hitch for 3+ years. Now when I try to look at folder "Options" of an existing shared folder in the Files app, the options menu displays then quickly disappears. Too fast to do anything. What is the fix for this on-going problem?

Many third-party apps and cloud storage services do not provide full functionality through the iOS apps due to Apple's ecosystem restrictions, API limitations, and the way iOS manages file access.

The Files app on iOS integrates with OneDrive, allowing you to access your OneDrive files, but it does not provide the ability to share folders directly. Instead, you must use the OneDrive app to share folders.

How Sharing Works with OneDrive on iOS

  1. Sharing a Folder
    1. Open the OneDrive app.
    2. Navigate to the folder you want to share.
    3. Tap the Share button and choose how you want to share it (link, email, etc.).
  2. Accessing Shared Folders in the Files App: After a folder is shared with you, it will appear in the Files app under: Files App > OneDrive > Shared

Limitations in the Files App

  • The Files app does not allow folder sharing directly from within it.
  • The OneDrive app is required to manage sharing permissions.
  • Files and folders shared with you will not appear in the main OneDrive directory in the Files app but rather under the Shared section.

I found the work-around shortly after it started happening.

It used to work.

Why did they change it?

Why does it pop up the option and then disappear?

It seems like a poor design. Someone obviously changed something.

And, if they know this is an issue, why allow you to open the file sharing at all for One Drive folders? Seems like a simple adjustment... they could just pop up a message saying, "We can't do that, Dave."

It's a little annoying and frustrating that this has become an issue with something that used to work.
