Apple Music authorization error on iMac running macOS Big Sur

I have an older MAC running Big Sur OS. I am trying to authorize the computer in Music so i can play tunes and watch videos. Apple tv and Apple Music prompt me that my computer is not authorized. I tried several times to authorize, deauthorize my mac and i get the same response every time. "There was a temporary problem completing your request. Try again later." I only have 2 computers Authorized at this time.

Apple only actively provide support to the last three versions of macOS. As suggested you could try authorising in the Apple TV app. Alternatively search for Retroactive iTunes and temporarily install the Mojave version of iTunes to see if that will allow you to authorize the computer.

FWIW I think Hanlon's Razor probably covers this one.

Hey MisterJAS, same issue here.

I spent hours trying to figure this out with Apple support. Music (Authorizing) works on two newer computers, but my old mid-2014 iMac lost its ability to play music. To the last responder, logging into Music worked fine for me, it's Authorizing that is broken. Also, only two other systems Authorized at the moment.

A reformat and reinstall of Big Sur didn't resolve the issue, and Apple support finally said they couldn't help because of the age of the computer.

Super shady to me. No one was willing to share what Apple saw on their end when the computer attempted to Authorize. Would love to hear if anyone has figured out how to overcome this issue.
