Live transpose on midi keyboard in Garageband

I’m unable to transpose my midi keyboard while playing live in Garageband. This used to work in older versions but not on the newest version (10.4) Usually if I’d transpose on my keboard it would directly read it in Garageband. Now it doesn’t work. Only after you’ve recorded the track, which is useless! Why???! Is there still a way? Changing octaves DOES work and is read from my keyboard.

Export to MIDI After all these years, garage band editor won't offer an option to export songs with only MIDI as .mid... Why not? It's a powerful editing tool, but one cannot transfer their work to an external keyboard for performance. I've seen the 22 step process to trick it into saving one track at a time, and it's ridiculous. I can understand if I use audio loops, that they won't convert to MIDI, but if I'm using MIDI loops... THEY'RE MIDI! Please give us a "save as" option for MIDIfiles.
