Disabling Apple Intelligence for iOS Mail

The iOS Mail inbox was, until now, the only place I could scroll all my messages in one place, without them being divided into Primary, etc. (Why, oh, why is Apple Intelligence copying Google?) I went to Settings, disabled Apple Intelligence across the board and restarted the phone. I still saw the Primary option up top, so I tapped the three dots and went to list view. Is this it? Is this everything now? I’m uncertain.

Thanks!

You don't need to disable Apple Intelligence to see your mailbox as it was before the new mail format was released, which btw, had nothing to do with Apple Intelligence.

  • Open your Mail App.
  • See the circle at the top with the three dots in it and tap it.
  • Tap List View and your messages will be displayed as it was, but you'll also see contact photos next to each message.

  • To get rid of the contact photos, open the Settings App. Scan ALL the way down to the bottom of the page and tap Apps.
  • All apps will be listed alphabetically, find and tap Mail.
  • Look for and turn off Show Contact Photos.
