Logic Pro 11.1.2 Running on M1 Mac Studio Volume automation is Glitching badly

I've written volume automation for a few of my tracks and it seems that the automation is fighting itself. It doesn't matter if I've written using "Write" or "Touch", as soon as I stop recording and return the playhead to the beginning of my project the volume returns to the setting at which it was originally recorded and NOT the settings that I just adjusted. Very frustrating to say the least. I have resorted to cutting out the track sections that I want to mute but this is only a temporary solution.

Is this a known issue and, if so, is there a work-around or a fix yet?

No, I do not have any backups to revert to - the software auto-updated so there's no going back.
