Apple introduced the iPad Air 2 in October of 2014. The most recent iPad Airs are the 11" and 13" M2 iPad Airs, introduced in May of 2024 (about 9 and 1/2 years later). If Apple was still including generation numbers in the names of iPad Airs, the current models would be 6th-generation ones.
There are also regular iPads, iPad minis, and iPad Pros.
Here's a tool on the Apple site that you can use to quickly compare the features of various iPads. I've set up this link so it shows your iPad Air, and the latest ones, but you can use the menus to compare any three models.
