AirPrint not working after iPadOS 18.3 upgrade

iOS 18.3 upgrade on iPad 10th gen left AirPrint unable to connect to printer though it does recognize the printer is available. My husband can print from his older iPad using iOS 17, so I don't think it's the printer [Canon CDW 644 multifunction]. How do I fix?

I would try to:

Turn off all your devices, printer included.

Turn off your modem router for at least 1 minute.

Turn your modem router back on, waiting for its complete auto-configuration.

Turn your printer back on, making sure it's connected to your wifi network.

Turn your iPad back on, making sure it's connected to your wifi network, and try to print.
