What can I do?...
I'm trying to get local channels by adding an antenna to my LG TV. The problem is that I cannot do a channel scan with my TV remote since I control my TV through my Apple device remote, I can't get my TV remote to work.

That makes no sense. The TV’s supplied remote should work regardless of whether an Apple TV and its remote are connected. You should be able to use the TV’s remote to switch inputs from the HDMI port that the Apple TV is connected to its antenna tuner port. Please review your TV’s user guide on how to switch to the TV antenna tuner.
And realize that any time you want to watch antenna channels you need to switch to that tuner. You cannot do this through the Apple TV.
you can still use the lg remote to control everything about the tv when the HDMI port the appletv is connected to is not set as the primary input source, it's sort of required when you update the firmware of the tv
Thanks for your advice 👍 But what if the HDMI port the appletv is connected tois set as the primary input source? I'm wondering if that could be my problem because my TV remote doesn't let me control anything, such as changing input devices. Any ideas?
you should probably read the manual of the tv I personally have no issues with my lg tv to navigate it's settings outside of the appletv setup but which lg version and os version I have compared to you is difficult to say.
I did go ahead and purchase a new tv remote off of Amazon in case my remote is just faulty. It should be here tomorrow.
By chance did you think about replacing the batteries in your LG remote? Sometimes the little things make you slap yourself in the forehead.
