When I saw the update to 4.6 available on the App Store, I attempted to install it, but I get the following message:
Unable to Download App
“Swift Playground” could not be installed. Please try again later.
I have tried at least 10 times. This is on an M4 MacBook Pro with 1TB and 24 GB RAM with around 625 GB free disk space.

Same here. Playgrounds wouldn't update to 4.6. I had to delete it and then install "Swift Playgrounds" which worked. Oddly I then had to update it, which worked and installed the same version.
I wonder if the issue is that they renamed it?
Followed advice from replies indicating to delete 'Playgrounds' and then install 'Swift Playground'.
This worked however Swift Playground is still showing in the App Store as an Update..if I run this it fails.
Noticed the version of Swift Playground that was installed after deleting Playgrounds is 4.6.1 (1997.43) but the 'more' info displayed from the App Store indicates version 4.6??
The new version does find my playgrounds (stored in iCloud) and I can open them.

M1 MacBook Pro with 1TB disk and 32GB ram, Sequoia 15.3, about 300GB free disk space.
Downloads fine, 796.9MB but fails installation at 87% complete.
I have the same issue, just upgraded macOS to 15.3, and then find the updating of Swift Playground always failed.
BTW, the Swift Playground disappeared from Application folder after the OS upgrading.
Update: I eventually managed to find the Playground by searching it in Launch menu and uninstall it. Reinstall the Playground App then it works.
Same problem. Uninstall it and then download it again.
I saw that. I too had to uninstall it totally and then reinstall. Oddly enough, after doing so, it immediately wanted to update and this time the update was successful.
I uninstalled, restarted, then installed the latest version. This finally worked for me.
