Auto Shape/Snap feature missing in Books app on all iPad models after iPadOS 17.4 update

Since the iPadOS 17.4 update, the Auto Shape/Snap feature has stopped working in the Books app on all iPad models.

This issue was first reported in March 2024 and confirmed by many users. However, with no solution or official statement from Apple, users were left without support, and the discussion was eventually closed.

So far, Apple has not clarified whether the absence of the Auto Shape feature is a temporary bug or a permanent removal. Notably, the feature continues to work in the Notes app, suggesting that the issue is specific to the Books app rather than a system-wide change.

I have relied on the Books app for annotating PDF documents, benefiting greatly from the Auto Shape feature, and now find its absence frustrating.

An official statement from Apple would be helpful for users to understand the situation and determine whether they should switch to an alternative third-party app.
