Excessive battery drain on iPhone when using WhatsApp

A few days ago I realized that WhatsApp is using more than 40% of my battery daily, and half of it comes from background activity, is anyone else having this problem? I already turned off background app refresh, location , some notifications.

That would be something you'd want to bring to WhatsApp's attention. Meta, who owns them has released a lot of buggy apps lately. Apple doesn't own them, nor have any control over their apps. Since you know the app is using a lot of power when suspended, I'd be inclined to force close the app when you're not using it.

To force close apps, with your finger on the bottom of the screen, slide up slowly halfway up the screen, then hold your finger there and the app switcher with the apps you've suspended will line up in the middle of the screen. Release your finger, then slide up any apps you want to force close.
