Issue dragging Photo album onto iMovie timeline

I started trying to make an iMovie from my photos in Photos. I haven’t made one for some years since we lost the ability to burn DVDs. I started but I just can’t drag an album of photos onto the timeline in iMovie. It looks as though I will have to drag individual photos one at a time onto the timeline which will take a long time. Does anyone else have the same problem. I have spoken to apple but they can’t solve the problem. Hoping someone might have the solution. Thank you in advance.
