Photo Booth video disappeared when I closed without saving.

I was using Photo Booth to record a video. While the video was still recording, I clicked Command-Q on my keyboard to quit. Photo Booth closed.

When I reopened Photo Booth, the video was not saved. Is there any way to recover this video?

Is there any way to enable autosave upon quitting?

Unfortunately, It seems the video is gone for good. Quitting without stopping the recording allowed no time / action for saving it.

(An accidentally deleted video could be recovered while PhotoBooth was still open using Edit > Undo Delete..)

Sorry I don't know for sure, but I really don't think so.

Photos are auto-saved after the shutter clicks, videos when recording is stopped.

It is always good practice to save a back-up copy of anything valuable, preferably before quitting an app.

(Eg: A flash drive is a cheap and easy option, saves Mac's storage, and is handy for recovering a file quickly.)

Photo Booth has both export and share options available. (You can "share" a photo or video to yourself )

Apple Support has a PhotoBooth User Guide online, which details all the software's possibilities.

Re: Did the developers not think about this??

Like its name "Photo Booth" is simple, free software provided by Apple to capture what is in front of the Mac camera. We all have different ways of working on computer, yet software only works as programmed.

If you wish: you can send feedback to reach those who work behind-the-scenes at Apple. They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will be carefully read and logged. If others are having a similar issue with PhotoBooth, we may see that addressed in a future update.

Re: "How would a flash drive help me in this situation?"

Commiserations if you did not save a back-up copy before exiting.

"I am trying to figure out how to autosave Photo Booth videos when I exit the app".

I don't know how you could do that without ending the recording.

The only way I know of, is to stop the recording, ensure you have a copy + back-up if anything is particularly valuable, then exit the app.

"The files I do save, I also back up regularly."

Great! Good thing to do, too.

If I turn off my camera while a video is being recorded, it saves the video. If I turn off my phone while a video is being recorded, it saves the video. On Photo Booth, it doesn't. Did the developers not think about this??

My question is not about creating a backup. It's about how to (if I can) autosave the video so I don't lose it if I close the app. I'm getting the feeling that it is not possible.
