DeDuper (Windows) - Error when deleting duplicated songs in iTunes

Using DeDuper script on a Windows 11 PC to remove duplicate songs.

I get an error message and it does'nt remove the duplicate songs in iTunes.

How to reolve this error?

Fair enough. I'll update the code to handle the error more gracefully and allow the script to continue.


That particular line attempts to extract a file extension from a file path by searching for the last "." in the string. Offhand the only reason I can think of for it failing is if there isn't a "." in the path, which would be unusual for a music track.


I'll post back when I've had a chance to update and test the code.

Always a little tricky when I cannot make the error occur at my end, but I'm hopeful that you should now get a report when it happens that shows the path that causes the problem. This report should have three options, Yes to continue getting further reports, No to ignore further errors, and Cancel to abort the script. I'd be grateful if you can post a screenshot in case that helps me work out what the underlying cause of the error is. Empty strings, or strings without a period didn't seem to trigger it at my end, so I'm somewhat confused. Anyway, download a new copy of the script from https://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/scripts.asp#DeDuper and see how you get on.
