How can I lock a folder on my iPhone Home screen?

I want to move an icon from the home screen to a folder on the home screen. When the icon gets near the folder it moves, and I cannot drag it into the folder. How do I lock down the folder so that it does not move?

Currently folders are not lockable on iPhones. However, individual apps may be locked. You start the process by long pressing the app and then selecting “Require Face ID”. Some apps are not lockable.

There are third party apps that may allow locking folders. These have limitations that may not meet your needs but are worth exploring.
