Sync iPhone 14pro max with iPad

This iPad used to belong to my wife. So it will not let me put my Apple account into the iPad it says it’s already being used on another device.

what do I need to do to fix this.

Presumably you have fully reset the iPad - and are now setting-up from the initial "hello" screen.


When setting-up, carefully follow the on-screen prompts. In attempting to use your own AppleID, you should not be attempting to set-up a new AppleID account with your existing AppleID username. Instead, select the option to use an existing AppleID account with the iPad.
