Potential Apple phishing scam on Facebook

While browsing on FB I clicked a link in a post and immediately a message came up under the Apple letter head saying poof your phone has been hacked and it redirected me to the App store to install a security app to protect my phone. I didn’t download the app and just closed the message.

It looked very real as if Apple was sending me the message.

I reported this to Facebook but they don’t see anything wrong with it. How do I know if I am hacked.

You are not hacked unless you provided your Apple ID and Password to someone else.

FB sold your contact information to other companies. You saw a scam message from one of those companies that was trying to trick you into buying useless software that will do absolutely nothing to help your phone.

Ignore and delete the message. Do the same with the other messages that you will receive from other companies that now have your contact information thanks to FB.

The messages are scam attempts, presented by criminals. Do not interact with the message or the sender. For information from Apple regarding such bogus messages, please read the information at the link below.
