Retrieve password for an old Apple ID.

I have purchased many songs in the past using iTunes but looks like it was under an old Apple ID. Now I can't play those songs on a new computer because iTunes wants me to authorize the computer with that old ID and I don't know the password for it. I can authorize the new computer with my new ID, but that won't let me play songs that I purchased under the old ID. I can't use Forgot Password because that only changes the password for my new ID, not for the old ID. My old ID was just my 'name' and my new ID is my email (ie. name@comcast.net). How can I find the password (or at least change the password) for my old ID so I can play my purchased music on my new computer?

I suspect you may be out of luck, but the only way to know for sure is to reach out to Apple Support. My hazy recollection is that name only user names may have been associated with old AOL screen names, but there could have been similar arrangements with other providers. If so it is possible the account name was converted automatically at some point. If you have the right user name and password you can use it, but account recovery becomes complicated if don't have the correct user name, or access to the email address associated with it.
