iPhone SE(2020) Sudden Malfunctions/Troubleshooting
Hi, after working completely normal until yesterday, my iPhone SE(2020) has suddenly started exhibiting a variety of crippling symptoms. I’m not even sure where to start. It is on iOS 17.6.1
1.) Phone began crashing to a completely black screen, requiring a volume +/-/button hold hard force restart.
2.) After restart, phone loses all of its settings/logins/etc. for every app. And system function, requiring a fresh login/setup for literally everything. Does not lose data though(photos, etc.).
3.) Phone refuses to stay powered off. After you manually power it off it starts itself back up without touching it.
4.) Phone heats up by the SIM card, incurs a “No Service” error and requires hard restart to correct, even just sitting on the Home Screen with no apps running.
5.) When on and not connected to power, displayed battery %(previously rated @ 80% health), swiftly drains at a rate of about 1% every 5 seconds until the phone loses power and crashes.
6.) email app will not start properly, and often incurs a complete system crash when tried. All other apps appear to work normally.
All of these symptoms started suddenly yesterday. I can’t even keep it stable long enough to back it up or try to update the software. My question is: Where do I even start with troubleshooting? Is it the SIM card? Is the battery gone? Is it a software issue? On a 5 year old phone is it even worth investigating? Where should I be going first the Apple Store or my cell provider to check the SIM card?
