If you had Find My enabled, you can mark the phone as Lost, and try to track the location.

This will not tell you who the thief or fence is, or what phone number they may be trying to use. If you see a location, you could give that to the police. Going there in person to confront criminals would be unwise as you could lose a lot more than just a phone.

Beware messages from “Apple” claiming to want to reunite you with your phone. Apple does not get involved with lost and stolen phones. These are “phishing” attempts from criminals trying to get you to help release Activation Lock and/or give them a means to ransack your Apple Account and data.
