Find files that are older than 250 days from today
Hello all,
I am working on a way to automate the find feature and frankly I am frustrated. Using a MBP, Mid 2015, Monterey 12.7.6 (up to date as of the post), 2.2 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i7)
First what I am trying to achieve: I need to find all the files that are older than 250 days from today then delete them.
Second what I have tried: I have tried a smart folder to the parent folder as well as to "any folder" as testing. The issue here is the smart filters do not allow for "older than 250 days". Only older than "XX/XX/XXXX" (in order words the filter is fixed for that date(s). I have tried the search bar with the following command "date: XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX" and that did not work at all (no files pulled up). When I do find a way to search with the search parameters date created after 250 days, it will find those files but also files that are under that parameters. For example; I search for the 250 days and it found those but also dates that 15 days younger (so instead of finding filed from 02/17/23 and older it was finding files from 02/01/23 and older).
My ideal word: As I stated above I would love the filter to work as a script; i.e. the date I run the script I want it to find and list all the files older than 250 days from that day (the day I run the search/filter). The reason is I will not be faithfully running this (...whatever...) on a daily or any type of schedule time.
Any help would be great. I am open to filters with a smart folder, searches, spot light if I can delete from there, scripts, short cuts and while not a fan, command prompt as long as the search is correct and it deletes after finding. Some of the command examples I have seen are not finding the correct files.
TIA
