Unable to download an app from the App Store

I want to download an app from the app store but after click on the button download en after that the option to install. However, when i go any further i get a popup and nothing happens after that (see screenshot) . Have a MacBook Air with M1 chip. Have searched for restrictions but they are not set! Can someone tell me what ishould do next?

Usually after this popups, if I interpret your depiction correctly, the app will be installed. This is a completely normal app that should be able to be installed without any special settings.


I tried to reproduce this. It took the download strangely enough a while to process, but it finally worked. 


Perhaps this occurred “in the background” and the app was successfully installed on your Mac. If it is not on the Mac now, I would restart the Mac, ensure an internet connection and try again. 


edit: obviously it got solved while I was typing my answer. never mind.

May I ask about how long it took? Was it a matter of seconds, minutes or worse? I've been waiting for more than ten minutes for a download to start. The App Store prompted for my password right away, then popped up a dialog similar to the one in your original post. And there it sits.
