Customize "plus" button in Messages on iPhone

This has been asked before, but would like to ^bump^ the subject, and alert Apple to my displeasure in this so-called upgrade.

Is there a way to remove most (like all but one) of the additional options under the "+" menu in Messages?

Or return to having the app bar above the text entry window? The extra little step is more annoying more often than I expected after upgrading.

Arrow to Collapse Text Box is Gone I’m assuming this is now considered a “feature,” but it’s very frustrating that the arrow to collapse the text box in the messages app doesn’t exist anymore in iOS 17. I use that thing frequently because I hate sending multiple texts back to back. Just in case I missed it, is there a setting to bring it back, a workaround, or a chance Apple will put it back in?
