MacBook serial number is unrecognized to verify charging wattage

I’m trying to verify what wattage charger my old MacBook needs. When I go to the list of my devices in my account, it’s not there. I have the serial number but there is no MacBook with that number in the list. How can I add it?

First try entering its serial number here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support, under Enter a device serial number.

How to find the serial number of your Apple product - Apple Support

If that is too inconvenient or doesn't work for whatever reason, read Identify your Mac power adapter - Apple Support.

To identify your specific model MacBook read Identify your MacBook model - Apple Support.

If you are unable to identify the correct power adapter you need, you can use any Apple power adapter that fits its power port. It's impossible to under / overcharge anything or damage the Mac, but if you choose a power adapter of insufficient capacity it might not be able to charge a Mac's battery while using the Mac at the same time.

"For the best charging experience, you should use a power adapter or display that provides at least the minimum wattage of the power adapter included with your MacBook AirMacBook Pro, or MacBook."

[emphasis added]

To eliminate all doubt, buy a larger capacity power adapter.
