I'm trying to erase all of my personal data prior to donating my iMac late 2014 Big Sur 11.7. During the rest process (Restart, "Command R"), I'm unable to get my USB-wired keyboard nor BT mouse to work in order to move forward with the process.

Are you able to Safe Boot?
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Not directly, but Safe Boot tuns fsck to try to repair drives on it's own.
Then after it Safe Boots, run Dixk Utility.
Is it still booting into MacOS???
Yes -- see pic. Trying to use Disk Utility to complete HD reset.
But will a safe boot get me into the Disk Utility upon start up?
